CHILL STATION / NATTY ROOTS DJ STAGE

As you well know from Beglika Fest’s previous editions, the DJ is not necessarily a “club owl” who goes to bed after sunrise (or after the afterparty) and following an intense 10-year career becomes in danger of extinction – just like the capercaillie. The Beglika Fest DJ is a different kind of bird. He is an early bird, which perches on the branches of a pine tree and sings its wondrous songs, providing a music background to the daytime program of the fest without waking up the children. This is why the music genres chosen for the Chill Station Stage (from 10am to 2pm) are chill out, ambient, down tempo, dub, world grooves and other melodic and atmospheric things! The second part of the day (from 2pm to 7pm) is dedicated to the Natty Roots culture. Jamaican roots reggae and dub set your body and spirit to vibrate on a calm, conscious and joyful wave – just like nature around you!...

Antiquity & Cosmos

Music-Meditation experience in the sound Universe The people from Antiquity & Cosmos are real sound shamans who transform, harmonize and bring the audience to trance. The project was created by Mihaela Stoykova, a.k.a. Mother-Ra, who was a sound therapist in the USA for many years and came back to Bulgaria in order to combine the healing vibrations of crystals and Tibetan bowls with the magic of traditional Bulgarian musical instruments like the bagpipe, tapan (drum), and flute together with the Australian didgeridoo. In order to make this a reality Antiquity & Cosmos is joined by Bunny's percussion, the bagpipe and didgeridoo of Jorge and the delicate flute music of Stanislav Spassov- all of them are well-known musicians from the popular band Oratnitza. Their music is truly cosmic and the secret lies in the alchemical symbiosis between the vocal improvisations, the healing properties of the Tibetan singing bowls, which resonate in the 7 major tones of the energy centers in the human body, and the mystical...

Balkan kHans

The BALKAN kHANs had their first gigs as one of the live experiments at the BALKAN SCIENTISTS parties in Sofia a unique meeting point in the town where musicians with strong personalities coming from very different backgrounds, ethnicities and generations join their forces. That is how it became possible for the 65 years old gypsy violin virtuoso Venzi Takev to share one stage with the 22 years Bulgaria’s beat box phenomena Skiller, the multi instrumentalist and global fusion composer Nikolai Ivanov to meet the gypsy gaida (bagpipe) and tupan master Kolio Ivano who rearly leaves his native little town of Straldja, and all this madness under the deep tuba bass of Mitko Uzunov taken right from the rehearsals of Wagner’s “Rhine Gold” in the National Opera house. Their name BALKAN KHANS links into two directions. The people in the orient and india call great music masters as khans. So you have khans on their instruments. Originally the band was called Balkan Han, which referred to the idea of a HAN. HAN is an old Turkish word that...
